Ikageng murder comes a week after 9-year-old girl was found dead

A 33-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend following an argument at his home in Ikageng near Potchefstroom, North West.

The woman was killed at about 7pm on Saturday, 26 September.

According to police, the woman and her alleged boyfriend were arguing at his residence when he allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed her.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene after the attack.

He had not been arrested at the time of publication.

North West police spokesman Captain Majang Skalkie confirmed that Ikageng police have opened a murder case and are searching for the suspect.

“We appeal to anyone with information that could assist in locating the suspect to contact the investigating officer, WO Samore, on 079 041 5057, or visit the nearest police station,” said Skalkie.

The murder of the woman comes a week after nine-year-old Karabelo “Mmeke” Seripe was found dead at Sarafina Sports Ground in Ikageng after she had reportedly gone missing for a day.

Karabelo was allegedly raped and murdered.

Her body was found at the sports ground, and the suspect in her murder has yet to be arrested.

The two incidents have left residents concerned about violence against women and children in the area.

Police have appealed to anyone who may have information about either case to come forward.
