Diesel prices will also rise, with increases ranging between R2,84 and R3,24 a litre, depending on the grade.
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources said the monthly adjustments are based on international and local factors.
The department said South Africa imports crude oil and finished petroleum products at internationally determined prices, with costs such as shipping also affecting the local pump price.
The increases come as motorists and consumers are already feeling the pressure of the high cost of living.
Transport costs are also expected to come under further pressure as businesses and commuters absorb the impact of the fuel hikes.
The department said fuel prices are adjusted every month according to changes in international oil prices, petroleum product prices and other local pricing factors.
The new prices will take effect from 7 October 2026.
