Regional Court Magistrate Tinus Boonzaaier told Kgang that the matter had been allocated to Regional Court 1 in Stilfontein for trial purposes.
“The matter has been transferred to Regional Court 1 in Stilfontein for purposes of trial there,” Boonzaaier said.
He ordered Kgang to return to court on 28 October at 08:30 for his first appearance at the Stilfontein Regional Court.
However, Boonzaaier stressed that the date was not a trial date, but rather for the matter to be taken further before the court to which it had been allocated.
Kgang was warned to attend court on the next date and remain in attendance until he was excused by the court or the matter was finalised.
His R1 000 bail was also extended under the existing conditions.
The State alleges that Kgang faces charges including resisting arrest, malicious damage to property and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The original charge of driving under the influence of alcohol was previously withdrawn. Additional charges were introduced as the investigation progressed.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, State prosecutor Mpho Sephapo and Kgang’s lawyer, Kgotso Baloyi, agreed that the matter should be postponed to 28 October.
The latest development follows months of postponements.
Kgang previously appeared in the Matlosana Traffic Court on 23 September, when prosecutor Beyers Barnard told Magistrate Godfrey Maleka that the matter had been transferred to the Regional Court.
Barnard said the State had obtained five statements and was preparing supplementary evidence. Kgang’s bail was extended at the time.
Kgang had previously welcomed the transfer of the matter to the Regional Court, saying he believed the case was finally moving forward.
His lawyer had also raised concerns about the repeated postponements and their impact on his client.
Kgang has maintained his innocence.
The matter will return to court at Regional Court 1 in Stilfontein on 28 October.
