The City of Matlosana in North West laid Ward 20 Councillor Molefi Sello to rest during a solemn civic funeral held on Saturday, 21 February 2026.
The programme began at the Municipal Council Chamber, where representatives of all political parties paid tribute to the late councillor. It later moved to the Auditorium Hall, where ANC leaders, members of Phodiso Worship Center, municipal leadership, family and community members gathered to bid him farewell.
Born on 3 November 1982 in Gelukspan, Mafikeng, Sello completed his matric at R.A Kobue High School and furthered his studies at the Vaal Triangle University of Technology. He joined the ANCYL and ANC at a young age and was elected Ward 20 councillor in 2021. He also completed the Municipal Finance Management Programme (NQF Level 6), strengthening his role in public service.

Speaker of Council Cllr Stella Mondlane-Ngwenya led the proceedings, while ANC Regional Coordinator Nathan Oliphant delivered condolences. Executive Mayor Cllr Fikile Mahlophe paid tribute in a heartfelt eulogy, describing Sello as a committed and hardworking leader.
Draped in the South African flag, his coffin symbolised his dedication to serving the community. Apostle TD Mofokeng delivered the sermon, offering words of comfort to the grieving family and mourners.

Cllr Sello was laid to rest at the Old Kanana Cemetery’s Heroes’ Acre. He is survived by his parents, his brother and his children. May his soul rest in peace.
