The ANC in the Free State has dismissed reports suggesting divisions within its ranks, describing them as “unsubstantiated allegations” aimed at portraying the party as fractured.
In a media statement the party’s provincial spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, said the governing remains united and focused on fixing local government and transforming the provincial economy.
Meeko pointed to the successful hosting of its January 8 anniversary celebrations in Trompsburg as proof of organisational stability and mass support.
He also said the integration of Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae into the party’s provincial officials had strengthened coherence between the ANC and government as part of its renewal project.
He further accused unnamed sources of attempting to “fabricate crises and sow discord”, arguing that such claims distract from service delivery and governance.
“We are not defined by gossip or factional intrigue but by our capacity to govern effectively. Internal processes are capable of addressing any organisational challenges, ” he add
The party called on alliance partners, civil society, business and residents of the Free State not to be distracted by what it termed “hot noise”, and urged support for the ANC-led provincial government’s programme to implement its election manifesto.
