Safer Festive Season Operations in Klerksdorp

A total of 24 undocumented immigrants, including two women, were arrested during Safer Festive Season Operations conducted across the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District in North West on Monday, 22 December 2025.

The operations were carried out in the policing precincts of Stilfontein, Klerksdorp and Jouberton in Matlosana Local Municipality as part of a comprehensive strategy to address heightened criminal activity during the festive season.

The multi-disciplinary operations were led by the District Commissioner of Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Major General Pretorius, accompanied by senior SAPS managers from the provincial and district offices, as well as members of the Stilfontein Community Police Forum (CPF).

Police executed various law-enforcement actions, including roadblocks, patrols and compliance inspections, aimed at combating and preventing crime. In addition, awareness campaigns were conducted at Matlosana Mall, Klerksdorp Terminus and Jouberton Tower Mall to engage with the public on safety and crime-prevention measures.

Besides the arrests, traffic authorities issued 30 road traffic fines to motorists for different offences. A further seven J534 fines were issued for contraventions of the Second-Hand Goods Act and the Explosives Act.

Police said the operations form part of ongoing Safer Festive Season initiatives aimed at enhancing visibility, enforcing the law and ensuring the safety of communities throughout the district during the holiday period.
