The North West SAPS Provincial Commissioner’s Golf Day, held in support of the South African Police Service Education Trust (SAPSET), successfully raised R100 000 at the Orkney Golf Club on Friday.

The event was hosted by Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, and brought together 144 golfers, senior police management and various sponsors from across the province.

Provincial police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the SAPS to invest in the education and development of members’ dependants.

“The Golf Day was aimed at raising funds for SAPSET, which plays a critical role in supporting the education of SAPS members’ children. We are encouraged by the strong turnout and the support received from sponsors and participants,” said Myburgh.

Metropolitan came on board as the platinum sponsor for the event, contributing to its overall success.

The overall winners of the day were CJ Ferreira and Jean Le Roux, who emerged victorious after a competitive round of golf.

According to Myburgh, the highlight of the evening was the official handover of all proceeds to SAPSET, amounting to R100 000.

“The funds raised will go a long way in assisting beneficiaries of SAPSET and reaffirm the SAPS’ commitment to education and community upliftment,” she added.

The event concluded with a celebratory dinner and a live performance by popular singer Refentse.
