Stubborn water supply issues persists in the Potchefstroom-based JB Marks Municipality in the North West following a mechanical breakdown at the new Ventersdorp Water Treatment Plant.
The municipal spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite confirmed to News Junction that the breakdown has resulted in the plant operating with only the old pump, while the new system remains offline. She said the n] unicipal technical teams have been dispatched to the site and are working to resolve the problem as a matter of urgency.
Tshite said technicians were attending to the matter and assured residents that efforts were being made to restore full operations as soon as possible.
“A mechanical breakdown has occurred at the new Water Treatment Plant, and at this stage only the old pump is operational. Our technical team is on site working to address the problem urgently,” Tshite added. .
The municipality has apologised to residents for the inconvenience caused and has urged the community to remain patient while repairs are underway.
