Award-winning vocalist Ntobeko Ngema, popularly known as MaWhoo, claims that she was unable to perform at the highly anticipated RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve celebration at Sun City Resort after her touring bus was attacked while en route to the venue.

According to MaWhoo Entertainment, the artist and her team were travelling from a prior engagement when they were involved in what has been described as a severe racial incident that resulted in significant damage to the touring bus. The attack caused an unexpected delay, ultimately preventing the singer from arriving at Sun City in time for her scheduled performance.

“Despite all reasonable efforts by MaWhoo Entertainment and the RustyRocks team, it was not possible for the artist to arrive in time for her scheduled performance,” the statement read.

The organisers and the artist’s management have apologised to fans, patrons and stakeholders who had gathered for the New Year’s Eve festivities, acknowledging the disappointment caused by her absence from the line-up.

MaWhoo Entertainment further confirmed that details of the alleged perpetrators have been obtained and that the matter will be pursued through legal channels.

The incident has sparked concern over the safety of artists travelling to major events, particularly during the busy festive season, as fans and industry stakeholders await further developments.
