The four Traffic Police officers appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of murder, where their bail was denied. They are scheduled to reappear before the court on Friday, 19 December 2025.
The four inspectors including Rudolph Foromo (29) Smanga Dladla (31) Colani Senzo Dlamini (34) and Vusumuzi Justice Simelane (36) faces charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
They were nabbed in connection with the alleged murder of a 37-year-old Nigerian National Osinakachukwu Macus Onu in the early hours of Wednesday, 17 December 2025 during an early-morning operation on the N12.
Police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said the incident allegedly occurred at about 03:00 while the traffic officials were conducting operations along the N12.
“It is alleged that the deceased, who was a Nigerian national and reportedly legally in the country, was pursued by four traffic police officers. During the chase, he was allegedly shot,” Myburgh said.
She added that the victim’s vehicle was later found stationary in the middle of the road on the opposite side of the N12. When police arrived at the scene, the traffic officials involved were no longer present.
According to Myburgh, swift police action and preliminary investigations led detectives to a location in Klerksdorp, where the suspects were traced. “The official firearms of the suspects were seized and will be subjected to forensic ballistic analysis as part of the investigation,” she said.
North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, welcomed the arrests and commended Klerksdorp detectives for their rapid response. He also thanked members of the public who provided information that assisted police in apprehending the suspects.
