Police in the Free State have arrested three teenagers after a cache of suspected stolen property including several SASSA cards was uncovered during a raid in Deneysville.

Free State provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said the arrests followed a joint operation by the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team, Sasolburg Crime Intelligence, and Deneysville Detectives on Thursday, 13 November 2025. Officers had acted on information suggesting the suspects were in possession of stolen goods.

“During the search, members confiscated two televisions, two microwaves, 90 ID books, 83 ID cards and several SASSA cards. The suspects could not provide a satisfactory explanation for having these items,” Rani said.

The three arrested males, aged between 18 and 19, were taken into custody, and all items were seized for further investigation.

The trio is expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
