The party said the 84-year-old former president attended a routine medical check-up on Tuesday.

“The President gets a full routine check-up twice a year,” the party said.

It also assured Zuma’s supporters that there was no reason to panic over his health.

“We hereby confirm that he is healthy and in good spirits. His campaign programme will continue accordingly,” the statement said.

The MK Party said all communication about the matter would be handled by its national spokesperson, Sifiso Mahlangu.

Zuma’s health has attracted attention as the MK Party continues with its campaign ahead of the 4 November local government elections.

The statement comes amid reports that Zuma had been admitted to a KwaZulu-Natal hospital.

The MK Party has maintained that Zuma is well and that his campaign programme will continue.

The party’s official statement did not disclose details of any medical condition or treatment.
