Staff members at Grace Mokhomo Community Health Care (CHC) Clinic in Kanana near Orkney outside Klerksdorp in Matlosana Local Municipality in the North West recently participated in an in-service training session aimed at strengthening service delivery through the Batho Pele Principles.

The training, which focused on putting people first in public service, was attended by clinic staff and forms part of ongoing efforts to improve professionalism, accountability and patient care at the facility.

Chairperson of the Grace Mokhomo CHC Clinic Committee, Bishop Nkosinathi Ngcizela, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a crucial step towards restoring trust and dignity in healthcare services.

“The Batho Pele Principles remind us that patients are not just numbers but human beings who deserve respect, transparency and compassion,” said Bishop Ngcizela. “We commend the staff for their commitment to continuous learning and for embracing values that place the community at the centre of healthcare.”

Attendance registers and photographic records from the training were submitted as part of accountability and monitoring processes, underscoring the clinic’s commitment to good governance and service excellence.

Bishop Ngcizela further expressed hope that the lessons from the training would translate into improved daily interactions between healthcare workers and community members, adding that a culture of empathy and responsibility remains key to effective public health service delivery.
