North West police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh says the province will soon reveal the latest crime figures that show a drop in several categories of crime.
Myburgh said the statistics for the 2025/2026 third quarter will be officially released during a media briefing led by Wessels Morweng and Acting Provincial Commissioner Ryno Naidoo.
“The figures generally indicate a decrease in various crime categories, in some instances exponentially, except for commercial crime which has slightly increased compared to the previous quarter,” said Myburgh.
According to the statement, Rustenburg remains one of the province’s problematic cities when it comes to reported crime, although figures show a slight decline.
Police stations such as Ikageng, Mmabatho and Boitekong also feature among the country’s Top 30 police stations for cases of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Myburgh said the MEC and the acting provincial commissioner will also outline plans to deal with crime trends, including the resurgence of illegal mining activities in the province.
The media briefing will take place on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at the MEC Boardroom in the Tirelo Building in Mahikeng at 10am.
Members of the media have been advised to arrive early and complete their set-up by 8.30am.
