The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued multiple severe weather alerts for the North West, Free State and the Northern Cape, amongst others. The weather service warned of disruptive rain, possible flooding and dangerous conditions expected tomorrow, 16 November.

It said Gauteng faces the highest threat, with an Orange Level 9 warning for widespread disruptive rain likely to cause flooding, damage to infrastructure, inaccessible communities and potential danger to life. The province is expected to remain cloudy and cool, with widespread showers and thundershowers throughout the day.

In the North West, the eastern parts fall under an Orange Level 6 warning, with disruptive rain expected to affect roads, settlements and essential services. The western parts of the province carry a Yellow Level 2 alert, where localised flooding remains possible. Weather conditions will range from cloudy and cool to warm, with widespread thundershowers, becoming partly cloudy in the west by afternoon.

The Free State is also impacted, with the north-eastern region under an Orange Level 6 warning. Eastern areas carry a Yellow Level 2 alert, indicating risks of localised flooding. The day will start partly cloudy, with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers, and cold conditions in the east.

In the Northern Cape, no weather warnings have been issued, but isolated thundershowers are expected in the extreme east. The west of the province will be fine and cool, while inland areas experience partly cloudy and warm conditions.

Residents across the affected provinces are urged to exercise caution, avoid crossing flooded areas, and monitor official weather updates.
