Six dies in FS accident : Pic used only for illustration
At least six people, including two children, died in a horrific crash after a vehicle rolled several times on the R70 on Friday night.
The deadly accident happened between Ficksburg and Rosendal in the Free State at around 9pm on 27 March 2026.
Emergency Services spokesperson Sipho Towa said emergency service personnel rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a Toyota Fortuner that had lost control and overturned multiple times.
Tragically, four adult men and two minors were declared dead at the scene.
Two other occupants sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Phutholoha Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Towa said the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the South African Police Service Accident Unit.
Authorities have warned road users to remain vigilant as investigations continue into what led to the fatal crash.
The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before it overturned several times, leading to the deadly outcome.
