The Free State Police in Heilbron have arrested a 17-year-old girl in connection with the alleged murder of her 29-year-old boyfriend following a domestic altercation in Phiritona.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 15 December 2025. According to Free State Police spokesperson Josephine Rani officers were dispatched to Phiritona at about 04:20 after receiving reports of a stabbing.
Rani said on arrival, police found the body of a 29-year-old man lying next to a gate at a residential property.
“The victim had sustained a stab wound to his upper body and was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect and the deceased, who were in a relationship, had been involved in an argument prior to the stabbing. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, ” She said.
The teenage suspect was arrested and is expected to appear before the Heilbron Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder.
