A head-on collision between an SUV and a heavy motor vehicle (HMV) caused traffic delays on the N5 between Winburg and Senekal on Saturday.
According to the Free State Road Incident Management System (RIMS) spokesperson, Sipho Towa, one person sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Itemoheng Hospital in Senekal for further medical care.
Towa said one lane of the roadway has been obstructed by the truck involved in the crash, and emergency services remain on scene attending to the incident. He also confirmed a diesel spillyage, increasing the risk of slippery road conditions.
“Motorists travelling through the area are urged to exercise extreme caution. Drivers are a767dvised to slow down, be alert to single-lane traffic flow, follo4w instructions from emergency personnel, and maintain a safe distance from the crash site,” Towa said.
